Aromatherapy, properly explained

Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts. Used with knowledge they calm, clear and lift. Used carelessly they irritate. This is the short, honest guide.

Blending safely

  • Always dilute in a carrier oil. Two to three drops per teaspoon is plenty for skin.
  • Patch test on the inner arm and wait a full day before using on the face.
  • Citrus oils can be photosensitive. Keep them to evenings, and wear SPF the next morning.
  • Avoid during pregnancy unless your doctor has cleared the specific oil.
  • Store dark, cool and tightly closed. Light and heat undo the distillation.

Where to start

One oil, one purpose, for a month. Learn how your skin and mood respond before adding a second.
